This chain drives the cutterbar assembly on a harvesting machine, transmitting rotational force from the gearbox to the reciprocating knife. It is routed around sprockets on the cutterbar drive housing and the knife-head assembly. A worn or stretched chain causes irregular knife motion, leading to uneven crop cutting and increased load on the drive components. The chain is manufactured to match the original pitch and tensile rating, so it seats correctly on the existing sprockets without requiring shimming or adjustment of the drive housing.
