This bearing housing encloses the outer race of the pick-up drum shaft bearing, maintaining alignment and protecting the rolling elements from chaff and debris ingress. It bolts to the side sheet of the drum frame and provides the locating bore that keeps the shaft concentric with the drum tube. A worn or cracked housing allows the bearing to shift, causing the drum to run out of true and leading to uneven crop pickup and accelerated belt wear. The housing is machined to match the original bearing seat geometry so that the bearing presses in without additional shimming. When replacing, clean the mounting face and torque the retaining bolts to specification to prevent distortion of the housing bore.
