This gearbox mounting hub transfers torque from the header drive to the gearbox input shaft. It sits at the interface between the header driveline and the gearbox, where its internal splines engage with the shaft to maintain rotational alignment under load. A worn hub causes backlash that leads to gearbox input shaft wear and uneven header speed. The hub is machined to match the original spline profile so that the gearbox seats without additional shimming. On reinstallation, inspect the mating splines for wear and confirm the retaining hardware is torqued to specification.
