This gear is a drive component located inside the grain tank of a harvesting machine. It transmits rotational motion from the tank's unloading auger drive to the cross-feed mechanism that moves grain toward the discharge opening. The gear meshes with a matching pinion on the adjacent shaft; wear on the tooth flanks produces backlash that causes intermittent feeding and auger vibration. The manufacturer machines the gear to the original tooth profile and bore tolerance so it seats on the shaft without requiring shimming or rework. On installation, inspect the mating gear for wear and replace the retaining clip if it shows deformation.
