This tension roller lever transmits the force from the belt tensioner to the drive belt in the engine system. It maintains the correct belt tension, which prevents slippage and ensures consistent power delivery to the driven accessories. A worn lever or its pivot bore causes belt slack, leading to reduced alternator or fan output and potential belt squeal. The lever is manufactured to match the original geometry so the tensioner spring operates within its designed range. When replacing, inspect the pivot pin and bushing for wear and torque the mounting bolt to specification.
