This hydraulic filter element removes particulate contamination from the oil circulating in the hydraulic system. It is installed in the filter housing on the pressure or return side of the loop, protecting downstream pumps, valves, and actuators from abrasive wear. A clogged element forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate, which accelerates internal component wear. The manufacturer produces this element to match the original housing’s seal geometry and bypass-valve cracking pressure, so the filtration system operates as designed. When replacing the element, clean the housing interior and replace the seal before torquing the cover to specification.
