This fuel filter element removes particulate and water from the fuel supply before it reaches the injection pump. It is installed in the fuel line between the tank and the high-pressure pump, where it protects the injectors and pump internals from abrasive contaminants. A restricted or saturated filter causes fuel starvation, leading to power loss and hard starting. The manufacturer produces this element to match the original housing's seal geometry and bypass-valve cracking pressure, so a fresh filter restores full flow without leakage. On replacement, drain any water from the housing bowl and tighten the housing cap to the specified torque.
