This engine oil filter removes particulate from the lubricating oil before it reaches the main bearing galleries and turbocharger supply. It is a spin-on type that mounts on the filter head on the engine block; the full-flow design passes the entire pump output through the filter media during normal operation. A clogged filter forces the bypass valve to open, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate and accelerating bearing wear. Mann-Filter constructs this element to match the original filter head’s seal groove and thread geometry, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and the gasket does not leak under cold-start pressure. On installation, lightly oil the gasket face and tighten the filter by hand until the gasket contacts the head, then advance the specified additional rotation.
