This tire is the depth-control wheel for a seed drill. It runs against the soil surface and sets the working depth of the coulter or opener assembly. The tire rotates on its hub as the drill moves forward, maintaining consistent penetration force across the row. A worn or underinflated tire causes uneven depth control, leading to variable seed placement. The tire is built to the original manufacturer's tread profile and rubber compound, which matches the rolling resistance and ground-contact area of the original assembly. On installation, verify the tire is inflated to the pressure specified for the drill and that the hub bearings are free of play.
