This depth regulator controls the working depth of the seeding coulter by limiting the downward travel of the press wheel or gauge wheel relative to the opener. It mounts directly on the seeder frame and interacts with the linkage that connects the coulter arm to the depth-adjustment mechanism. A worn or seized regulator allows the coulter to run deeper than intended, causing uneven seed placement and inconsistent emergence.
