This arm sweeps soil or residue back over the seed furrow after the coulter passes. It is mounted on the rear of the seed-drill frame, trailing behind the opener assembly. The arm's curved face directs material into the trench, ensuring seed-to-soil contact for germination. A worn or bent arm leaves the furrow uncovered, which can lead to seed drying or bird damage. The original part is formed to the same profile as the drill's mounting bracket, so the sweep angle matches the factory setting without adjustment.
