This toothed strip is the metering-edge component on the seed drill's metering roller. It sits adjacent to the roller and controls the flow of seed from the hopper into the delivery tube. The teeth on the strip engage with the seed in the roller's cells, ensuring a consistent volumetric dose per revolution. Wear on the tooth profile causes irregular seed spacing and over- or under-seeding in the row. The original part matches the roller's groove geometry, so no adjustment of the metering gap is needed during installation.
