This sprocket drives the metering or distribution shaft in a grain seeder. It transmits rotational force from the drive chain to the shaft that controls seed flow. A worn sprocket causes chain slippage, which leads to inconsistent seed spacing or missed rows. The 12-tooth count matches the original assembly’s drive ratio, so the metering disc turns at the correct speed relative to ground travel. On installation, align the sprocket with the chain run and check for proper chain tension.
