This ball bearing supports the disc coulter on the seed drill, allowing the disc to rotate freely as it opens the seed furrow. It is a double-sealed, non-adjustable bearing that is pressed into the hub assembly and carries both radial and axial loads from the coulter disc. Contamination ingress through a failed seal causes the bearing to run rough, leading to uneven furrow depth and erratic seed placement. The manufacturer machines the bearing to the same internal clearance and seal-lip geometry as the original hub assembly, so no shimming or adapter sleeves are required during installation. Press the bearing into the hub bore using the outer race only; do not apply force through the inner race.
