It threads into a boss on the plow frame and contacts a stop plate; turning the screw changes the gap between the stop and the moving part. A worn or bent screw allows the plow body to run deeper than intended, which increases draft load and produces an uneven furrow bottom. The manufacturer machines the thread to match the original frame boss, so the screw engages without binding and holds its setting under vibration. When reinstalling, apply a thread-locking compound to the exposed threads to prevent the screw from backing off during operation.
