A worn pump produces slow implement response and audible whine under load, and it can cause the steering to become heavy or erratic. The manufacturer machines the housing and gear set to the same tolerances as the original assembly, so no shimming or adapter plates are needed during replacement. When installing, ensure the input shaft splines are clean and the mounting bolts are torqued to specification.
