This chain link connects adjacent sections of the gathering-chain assembly on the header of a combine harvester. It transmits the pulling force that moves the chain and its attached fingers or slats through the crop intake area. A worn or stretched link causes the chain to skip or derail, leading to uneven crop feeding and potential damage to the sprockets. The link is manufactured to match the original pitch and pin geometry so that it seats correctly in the chain links and sprocket teeth without requiring adjustment. When replacing a single link, verify that the adjacent links are not also worn; replace the entire chain section if wear is uneven.
