The compact design of the robust STIHL MS 251 petrol chainsaw makes it excellent for work in the household as well as in trade and agriculture. This chainsaw is ideal for firewood harvesting in the forest. The STIHL MS 251 petrol chainsaw is characterised by high cutting performance and, in the basic version, a durable STIHL 3/8" P (PM3) saw chain. Thicker tree trunks can be effectively felled and processed with an optional 40 cm guide bar. A version with the RS Pro .325'' cutting set is also available.
The MS 251 petrol chainsaw features an economical STIHL 2-MIX engine with a power of 2.2 kW (3.0 hp). Single-lever control allows basic functions to be performed with one hand, such as starting and stopping the device. This allows you to operate the chainsaw comfortably and safely, because your right hand can always remain on the handle. To protect joints and muscles, the STIHL anti-vibration system reduces vibrations from the engine and the device.
So that you can work as efficiently as possible, the STIHL 251 chainsaw has additional features such as a tool-free fuel filler cap and an air filter system with a pre-filter that keeps coarse particles away from the filter. To further protect the engine from fine dust, this petrol chainsaw can also be retrofitted with an HD2 air filter, which means your STIHL MS 251 will benefit from the long-life air filtration system.
The long-life air filter system significantly extends the working periods between filter cleanings. Larger and heavier particles are thrown outward by centrifugal force, and then additionally thrown upward by a rising ramp. Pre-cleaned air is then directed to the air filter.
STIHL 2-MIX engine
The STIHL two-stroke engine with 2-MIX technology provides high power while saving up to 20% fuel consumption compared to STIHL two-stroke engines of similar power without 2-MIX technology. Exhaust emissions are reduced by approx. 50%.
Anti-vibration system
Strong vibrations transmitted through the handles of mechanical devices can lead to vibration disease. For this reason, STIHL developed the anti-vibration system. In mechanical devices equipped with the AV system, the handle zones significantly reduce the number of vibrations generated by the combustion engine and the working tool.
Multi-function switch
All important functions of the chainsaw, such as warm and cold starting, operation and switching off, are controlled via a single lever. This solution provides exceptional comfort and operating safety, because the right hand remains on the handle at all times.
Cleaning the filter only becomes necessary when the engine power noticeably drops. The STIHL compensator located in the carburettor ensures that despite increasing air filter contamination, engine power, harmful substance content in the exhaust and fuel consumption remain constant for a longer period. This allows longer work without the need for maintenance procedures.
Side chain tensioner
The tensioning screw is turned with a special knob that passes through the cover of the saw chain drive sprocket. This avoids hand contact with the sharp saw chain and the bumper spike teeth.
STIHL Ematic System
The STIHL Ematic system consists of an Ematic guide bar, an Oilomatic saw chain and an oil pump with adjustable output or reduced oil delivery. The special design of the guide bar and saw chain ensures that every drop of oil reaches exactly those points of the saw chain where it is most needed. This allows the consumption of chain lubricating oil to be reduced by up to 50%.
Practical tank cap
Special, patented fuel and oil tank caps. Tanks of mechanical devices equipped with such caps can be quickly opened and closed - without force and without any tools.
