This engine begins a new era in chainsaw technology.
Revolutionary STIHL Injection technology is responsible for incredible acceleration, powerful performance and a consistent reduction in the weight of STIHL chainsaws.
The chain accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an incredible 0.25 seconds.
Breakthrough technology and the resulting lightweight construction provide the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: 1.24 kg/kW.
An innovative solution in the form of air pressure and temperature sensors, both external and inside the housing, allows fuel to be metered optimally regardless of cold or warm starting, working altitude or ambient temperature.
No starting position and easy access to the manual fuel pump make starting much easier in all conditions.
The perfectly balanced STIHL MS 500i chainsaw, with its lightweight construction and excellent manoeuvrability, provides the user with huge benefits not only when felling trees and cross-cutting, but also during limbing.
The excellent equipment is completed by: the HD2 filter, practical nuts attached to the cover, an oil pump with adjustable output, a tool-free fuel tank cap closure and a side chain tensioner.
The breakthrough technology used in the saw and the resulting lightweight construction provide the best power-to-weight ratio on the market.
Working comfort is ensured by the optimal design with a lightweight sprocket cover, a compact drive unit, a lower overall height and the reduced weight of the new flywheel.
The ideal saw for felling, cross-cutting or limbing hard wood,
STIHL Injection technology is responsible for the incredible acceleration, powerful performance and reduction in the saw's weight thanks to the smaller displacement of the device.
The chain accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an incredible 0.25 seconds.
Breakthrough technology and the resulting lightweight construction provide the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: 1.24 kg/kW.
The saw has full power almost immediately.
An innovative solution in the form of air pressure and internal temperature sensors allows fuel to be metered optimally regardless of cold or warm starting, working altitude or ambient temperature.
Decompression valve
The decompression valve allows part of the compressed mixture to be removed from the cylinder during starting.
This enables a significant reduction in the force needed to pull the starter rope, relieving the operator and protecting the entire starting system of the device.
Optimal fuel metering
In addition to the ambient temperature sensor, the MS 500i saw also has air pressure and internal temperature sensors near the engine.
During starting, the sensor measures atmospheric pressure, and during operation it measures the temperature inside the housing.
The voltage generator supplies the necessary information for determining the engine speed.
The device processes these values and adapts the system to the working conditions by metering fuel optimally.
Easy cold and warm starting
The absence of a starting position and easy access to the manual fuel pump provide excellent conditions for optimal starting.
STIHL 2-MIX engine
The STIHL two-stroke engine with 2-MIX technology provides high power while saving up to 20% fuel consumption compared to STIHL two-stroke engines of similar power without 2-MIX technology. Exhaust emissions are reduced by approx. 50%.
LOSS-PREVENTION NUT
When replacing the cutting attachment, a practical sprocket cover nut with loss prevention is used.
Anti-vibration system
Strong vibrations transmitted through the handles of mechanical devices can lead to vibration disease.
For this reason, STIHL developed the anti-vibration system.
In mechanical devices equipped with the AV system, the handle zones significantly reduce the number of vibrations generated by the combustion engine and the working tool.
SIDE CHAIN TENSIONER
The tensioner screw is turned with a special knob that passes through the sprocket cover of the chainsaw.
This avoids hand contact with the sharp saw chain and the bumper spike teeth.
STIHL ElastoStart
Compression pressure during starting of combustion engines causes kickbacks that strain the operator's muscles and joints.
A damping element placed in the special starter handle absorbs and transmits the occurring forces according to the compression cycle, thus enabling smooth starting of the device without jerks.
Practical tank cap
Special, patented fuel and oil tank caps.
Tanks of mechanical devices equipped with such caps can be quickly opened and closed - without force or any tools.
STIHL Ematic with new oil delivery system
The STIHL Ematic system with the new oil delivery system allows the amount of oil delivered to be increased as needed.
This is particularly important when working with dirty wood and when working with a longer guide bar.
Plunge-cut line
For easier plunge cutting, a marker (line) is applied to the fan grille.
This enables better control of direction and more confident saw guidance when plunge cutting,
Optimised sprocket cover
The lighter, narrower and flatter sprocket cover reduces effort during limbing and supports efficient chip evacuation.
Optimised bumper spike
Better matching of the bumper spike tooth length to the radius of the cut trunk.
STIHL Smart Connector.
Once connected to the device, the STIHL Smart Connector records its operating hours, stores them and transmits them via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet, provided they are within range.
STIHL connected is a cloud-based system consisting of the STIHL Smart Connector and software such as the STIHL connected app and the STIHL connected portal.
The STIHL Cloud is an online data centre enabling access to data. Device data stored in the STIHL Cloud is available via the STIHL connected app and the STIHL connected portal.
The STIHL connected Portal was developed with the needs of professional users in mind and provides information on device operating times and the locations where they were used.
With the STIHL connected portal, you can easily manage a fleet of devices, coordinate the work of users and maintain control over the execution of the tasks assigned to them.
