This O-ring seals the gearbox housing at the interface between the case and the cover, preventing lubricant leakage and maintaining internal pressure. It sits in a machined groove on the gearbox casing; the seal compresses against the mating cover face when the housing is bolted together. A degraded or hardened O-ring allows oil seepage, which can lead to low lubricant levels and accelerated gear wear. As an original AGCO component, the ring is molded to the same cross-section and hardness as the original seal, matching the groove geometry so that no additional sealant or shimming is required. On reinstall, clean the groove thoroughly and confirm the ring is seated evenly before torquing the cover bolts to specification.
