This PTO clutch O-ring seals the hydraulic piston inside the PTO clutch pack of the host tractor. It sits between the piston and the clutch housing, preventing pressurized oil from leaking past the piston during engagement and disengagement. A worn or hardened O-ring causes a pressure drop, leading to clutch slippage or failure to engage. The manufacturer produces this O-ring to the same cross-section and durometer as the original seal, so it seats correctly in the groove and maintains the designed clamping force. On reinstall, ensure the groove is clean and free of burrs, and lubricate the O-ring with clean hydraulic oil before assembly.
