This tie rod end connects the steering linkage to the steering knuckle, translating rotational input from the steering gear into the angular movement of the front wheels. It is a threaded assembly that screws onto the drag link or steering arm, with a ball joint at the outer end that articulates to accommodate suspension and steering geometry changes. A worn tie rod end introduces free play in the steering system, causing a wandering steering feel and uneven tire wear. As an original AGCO component, the ball socket is formed to the same internal clearance as the original assembly, which eliminates the need for shimming during installation. When replacing, loosen the locknut on the drag link before threading the new end to the same length as the old one, then torque the locknut to specification after the alignment is set.
