This engine oil filter removes particulate contamination from the engine lubrication circuit before the oil reaches the main bearing journals and turbocharger supply. A clogged filter restricts oil flow, which can cause the bypass valve to open and allow unfiltered oil to circulate, accelerating bearing and turbocharger wear. The manufacturer machines the filter's sealing face and thread geometry to match the housing's mounting boss, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and the gasket compresses evenly without leakage. On installation, lightly lubricate the new gasket and tighten the filter to the torque specified for the housing.
