A restricted filter forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to reach the engine, which increases internal wear. The manufacturer machines the thread and seal face to match the original housing, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and the gasket seals without over-torquing. On installation, lubricate the gasket and tighten to the specified torque.
