This bar mounts across the header frame and serves as a contact surface for the auto-contour system. It provides a fixed reference that the sensing mechanism follows to adjust the header height relative to the ground profile. A bent or worn bar introduces measurement error, causing the header to run too high or too low, which leads to uneven stubble height and potential crop loss. The bar is drilled for mounting; on reinstallation, ensure the fasteners are torqued to specification to maintain alignment.
