This left gatherer finger is the furrow-closer component that sweeps soil over the seed trench after the seed is placed. It mounts on the closing wheel assembly and rotates with the wheel, pushing loose soil into the furrow to cover the seed. A worn or bent finger leaves the seed trench partially open, which can lead to uneven emergence and moisture loss. The finger is formed from spring-grade steel rod that maintains its shape under repeated soil contact. When replacing, check that the mounting hole aligns with the pivot pin and that the finger rotates freely without binding against the adjacent closing wheel.
