This friction disc transfers torque between rotating shafts inside the gearbox. It sits between the clutch pack and the pressure plate, where its contact surfaces engage and disengage to control power flow. Wear on the disc reduces clamping force, leading to slipping under load and delayed engagement. The disc is machined to the original thickness and inner-outer diameter profile so it fits the existing clutch pack without shimming. On reinstall, verify the disc rotates freely on the splines before torquing the pressure-plate bolts to specification.
