This front drive shaft joint transmits torque from the tractor's transmission output to the front-axle differential input. It sits at the connection point between the two driveline sections, accommodating angular misalignment as the axle articulates. A worn joint produces a clicking or knocking sound during turns and can cause driveline vibration that accelerates wear in the axle pinion bearings. The joint is manufactured to match the original assembly's spline geometry and bearing race dimensions, so it installs without shimming or adapter sleeves. On reinstall, verify that the retaining circlip seats fully in its groove and that the joint is packed with the correct grease before fitting the axle-side boot.
