This bearing supports the straw chopper rotor shaft within the harvester. It carries the radial and axial loads from the rotating chopper assembly, maintaining alignment between the rotor and the stationary counter-knives. A failing bearing produces increased vibration and noise from the chopper housing, and can lead to contact between the rotor and housing if not replaced. The C3 internal clearance accommodates the thermal expansion that occurs during continuous high-load operation.
