The strip contacts the chain links directly; wear on its upper face increases chain slack and can cause the chain to ride unevenly, leading to vibration or misalignment in the feeder house. The part is manufactured to match the original mounting-hole pattern and thickness so that it sits flush against the feeder-house floor without shimming. On replacement, ensure the old strip is fully removed and the mounting surface is clean before installing the new strip.
