It prevents crop from passing under the cutterbar, which would otherwise result in missed harvest. The lifter attaches through a hole in its base and is secured to the beam; a worn or bent lifter fails to lift lodged stems, causing plugging at the knife section. JAG manufactures this component to match the original geometry of the assembly, so the mounting hole aligns with the beam bracket without modification. On installation, verify the lifter is not bent and that the retaining hardware is torqued to specification.
