This shim sits between the knife section and the header's wear plate, maintaining the correct gap for clean crop cutting. It compensates for wear on the mating surfaces, preventing the knife from pulling away from the counter-edge. A worn or missing shim allows excessive clearance, leading to ragged stubble and increased draft load on the driveline. The part is stamped to match the original profile so it seats fully against the mounting face without interfering with the knife motion.
