This guide is a locating component for the knife drive assembly on a grain harvester header. It maintains the correct path and alignment of the reciprocating knife as it moves across the cutterbar. A worn or misaligned guide allows the knife to drift, leading to increased vibration, uneven cutting, and accelerated wear on the knife sections and ledger plates. This part is manufactured to the original geometry so it positions the knife at the correct height and lateral offset relative to the hold-down clips and guards. When replacing, ensure the mounting holes are clean and the fasteners are torqued to specification to prevent the guide from shifting during operation.
