This bayonet-type coupling connects the header drive system to the feeder housing on the parent combine. It transmits torque through a double-ended bayonet interface that engages with matching slots on the driven shaft. Wear on the bayonet lugs or the retaining spring causes intermittent engagement, leading to header speed fluctuations or complete disengagement under load. The original manufacturer machines the lugs to the same profile as the factory assembly, so the coupling seats fully without modification.
