This tire is the depth-adjustment wheel for the seed drill's metering unit. It runs on the soil surface and controls the working depth of the coulters by setting the vertical position of the drill frame relative to the ground. A worn or underinflated tire causes inconsistent seeding depth, leading to uneven emergence across the drill width. The tire is constructed to match the original assembly's tread pattern and rolling circumference so that the depth-control linkage maintains its calibrated geometry. On reinstall, ensure the tire is inflated to the specified pressure and that the hub nut is torqued to the correct value.
