This chain half-link is used to adjust the length of a drive chain on the header of a harvesting machine. It connects two ends of a roller chain, allowing the chain to be shortened or lengthened by a half-pitch increment without removing a full link. The half-link sits between the two chain strands and is pinned in place using the chain’s standard pins and rollers. A worn or stretched chain can cause slop in the header drive, leading to uneven feeding or missed crop intake. Replacing a worn half-link restores proper chain tension and engagement with the sprockets. On installation, ensure the half-link is oriented so its open side faces the direction of travel to avoid snagging.
