This chain is part of the reel drive assembly on a grain harvester header. It transmits rotation from the reel drive sprocket to the reel bat tube, synchronizing the tine-bar motion with the reel speed. A worn or stretched chain causes the reel to slip out of timing, leading to uneven crop feeding and increased shatter loss at the cutterbar. The chain is manufactured to the original pitch and roller geometry so it seats correctly on the existing sprockets without requiring a sprocket replacement. On installation, verify the chain tension is set to specification and that the reel drive clutch engages without binding.
