This water pump circulates coolant through the engine block and radiator to maintain operating temperature. It is a centrifugal-type pump driven by the engine's accessory belt; the impeller moves coolant from the lower radiator hose into the water jacket, where it absorbs heat before returning to the radiator. A worn pump typically produces a weeping leak from the vent hole, bearing noise, or visible shaft play, all of which reduce coolant flow and can cause overheating. The kit includes the pump and a gasket for the mounting flange. On installation, clean the mating surface thoroughly and replace the gasket to prevent coolant loss. Torque the mounting bolts to the specification for the host engine.
