This shaft transmits torque from the drive sprocket to the elevator chain on the grain-unloading system of the parent combine. It is the left-side shaft, and its rotation carries the chain and paddles that move grain up the elevator housing to the discharge spout. A worn shaft or damaged keyway causes chain slip, reducing unloading speed and potentially jamming the elevator. The shaft is machined to match the original sprocket bore and bearing fit, so no shimming or modification is needed during replacement. On installation, ensure the chain tension is adjusted to spec and the retaining hardware is torqued correctly.
