This cross joint transmits torque from the front-axle differential to the wheel hub through the half-shaft assembly. It accommodates angular misalignment between the two shafts as the axle articulates over uneven ground. Wear at the needle-bearing surfaces produces driveline vibration and a knocking sound during turns. The set includes the cross joint and four circlips; the circlips must be fully seated in their grooves to prevent the joint from walking out of the yoke during operation.
