SF-Filter - SO5242/1 - Engine Oil Filter

This engine oil filter removes particulate from the lubricating oil before it reaches the main bearing journals and turbocharger supply. It mounts on the engine block and receives oil from the pump; the filter media traps wear debris and combustion byproducts that would otherwise accelerate bearing and bore wear. A restricted filter triggers the bypass valve, which allows unfiltered oil to circulate and increases the risk of scoring. The manufacturer machines the sealing face and thread to match the original filter-head geometry, so the bypass valve cracks at the correct differential pressure. On installation, lubricate the gasket with clean oil and tighten by hand until the gasket contacts the housing, then advance the specified fraction of a turn.
