This air filter element removes moisture and particulate from the compressed-air system before the air reaches the brake or clutch actuators. It is installed in the pneumatic line between the compressor and the downstream control valves. A saturated or clogged element allows moisture to pass into the system, which can freeze in cold weather and block air flow or cause corrosion in the actuator seals. The manufacturer machines the sealing surface to match the housing's thread profile so the element seats correctly and the drain valve at the bottom functions as intended. On replacement, ensure the old O-ring is removed from the housing and the new element is tightened to the specified torque.
